TWO BOOKS - FOUR MEETINGS

Readers Are Leaders

Our book club reads two carefully curated books a year, with two meetings in the spring and two meetings in the fall. Our reads are chosen to encourage you and give you practical takeaways for living a more fulfilled and less stressful life.

We know you’re reading this and thinking, "But I don’t have another weeknight to give to book club," or, "That means another babysitter booking." Thankfully, our book club meets virtually, via a Zoom Room, in the evening. So, you don’t have to schedule drive time, find a babysitter, or stay dressed up (pajamas are always encouraged). There might be people you don’t know, but that just means there’s no pressure in sharing your opinions about our book selection.

STILL NOT CONVINCED?

Here are our team's top reasons to make time for Book Club:

  • Experience the joy of discovering a book you would have never picked. We all have types of books we prefer, and if we don’t push ourselves, we always read the same kind of book. Reading someone else’s pick is a guaranteed way to push boundaries.

  • Share your opinion in a low stakes situation. Who else holds back at family dinner, work, playgroup, or your Crossfit Box or barre class because you don’t want to step on someone’s toes? At book club, sharing opinions is not only acceptable, it’s encouraged. And, since everyone expects people to have opinions on books, disagreeing isn’t a surprise.

  • There are built-in deadlines. When you join a book club, there’s an expectation you’ll have a book read (or listened to, if you’re an audiobook person) by the meeting date. This means you can break your habit of buying books and leaving them to languish on your night stand. You’ll have a reason to finish—discussing your favorite (or least favorite) section with the group.

  • Meet new people. Book clubs are an easy way to meet new people. There’s a book, you read it, you show up, and there are people to talk to. Better yet, there’s an obvious conversation topic and a point of commonality for everyone at book club. So, no need to worry about small talk or wonder if you’ll have anything in common with new people. Win-win!

  • Learn something new. This might be our favorite reason. Every book read is an opportunity to learn. Learning broadens our horizons, challenges our world view, engages our brain, and can inspire us to change.
